After receiving a physical exam, your doctor will use different methods to observe how the veins react to pressure. Next, they will order a type of ultrasound called a duplex ultrasound test. At Peachtree Vascular Specialists, we have an in-house ultrasound facility, managed by Metro Vascular. Ultrasounds are painless, and will provide your doctor with a more accurate picture of how your veins are performing. In some cases, this test can be performed the same day you have your physical exam.

Depending on the ultrasound results, your physician may suggest some things you can do at home to alleviate your symptoms, such as wearing compression hose or elevating your legs. In some cases, they may determine that an interventional procedure is required to prevent further damage to your veins.
